KATHREIN's innovative Digital Professional Headend. Modern digital processing, as offered by the UFOcompact plus® system, allows processing of many different signal types in a minimal space with high building density.
The principle of 'software-defined-radio' has been followed in the design of new conversion formats, combining maximum flexibility with the highest reliability and low cost.
The new converters are designed with four RF inputs, followed by a broadband DiSEqC RF capability to ensure a fully flexible internal signal distribution. The high-performance program and PID filters, along with the available multiplexing feature, provide maximum flexibility to users.
The interface of the base from which DVB transport streams go to an integrated part of any UFOcompact plus® model. General system operations on specific models can be routed to other embedded system mounts via this interface. One of the first functions, which is treated in this way, relates to decoding transport streams that run from a conversion modulus model using the CI UFZ 896.
This unit will be followed by additional special mounts, including decoders, Edge-QAM / COFDM modules and general-purpose interface units. Durable aluminum housings provide excellent thermal characteristics. Besides, the new UFOcompact plus® models are characterized by their extremely low power consumption.
Great importance has been given to user friendliness and serviceability. All UFOcompact plus® units have Push-Pull technology and are capable of connecting. All new models are equipped with voltage and temperature sensor technology. When the limits of specific operating parameters are exceeded, then these enclosures will be closed for security reasons. As soon as the parameters reach standard values, the units will open again automatically. A status LED informs the operator of the operating status of each module.
